The Traditional Conservatory

More commonly known as the lean-to of garden room. As far as the diy conservatory market is concerned, this style of conservatory takes about 70% of market share. This is not surprising as it is the least complicated to install and is also the most cost effective in terms the space created. The lean-to is also quite versatile as there is no limit to the width of the structure, the only drawback is the maximum projection which is around four meters. The minimum pitch on a lean-to roof is 2.5 degrees. This pitch is commonly used on bungalows were the facia height is the main restriction. Hips can be added to create a more aesthetically pleasing finish, but can not be used below 5 degrees. Using a steeper pitch of around 15 degrees, and building full height parapit walls on either side will give the impression of a modern glazed extension rather than a conservatory. Using full height glass of bi-fold doors further enhances the modern look.
